Ummat Party Chairman and Secretary-General Resign, Amien Rais Assures Party Machinery Will Continue
The Syura Council of the Ummat Party has accepted the resignations of the party’s central executive board (DPP) chairman Ridho Rahmadi and secretary-general Taufik Hidayat. The decision was taken during the 8th Syura Council Deliberation held on Wednesday (26/8/2026).
Chairman of the Ummat Party Syura Council, Professor Amien Rais, said the resignations of the two leaders had been formally accepted. The decision refers to the provisions of Chapter VII Article 14 paragraph (1) of the Ummat Party’s Articles of Association.
“The Syura Council respects the decision and declares that it accepts the resignations in question. The Syura Council expresses its highest appreciation and deepest gratitude for all the dedication, service to the struggle, and tangible contributions that have been made while leading the central executive leadership,” said Amien Rais on Thursday (28/8/2026).
Amien stressed that the resignations do not mean the two figures are leaving the Ummat Party. According to him, the leadership transition is part of the rotation of the organisation’s machinery and a refreshment of the structure so that the party’s movement becomes more dynamic and responsive.
“The two main leaders are confirmed to remain actively fighting within the party’s structural leadership with a new assignment formation,” he said.
To ensure the organisation continues to run, the Syura Council has appointed Ir. H. Ansufri ID Sambo, who is the Secretary of the Syura Council, as Acting Chairman of the Ummat Party DPP. Meanwhile, Muhammad Sadiq has been appointed as Acting Secretary-General of the Ummat Party DPP.
“The appointment of this transitional formation is based on the principles of meritocracy, integrity, and loyalty, to ensure that the administrative and operational movement of the central leadership continues to run effectively,” said Amien.
