UMKM Turnover in IKN Increases During Eid Holiday
Turnover for small and medium enterprises (UMKM) in the Nusantara Capital (IKN) experienced a drastic increase to tens of millions per day during the 2026 Eid al-Fitr holiday, thanks to high visitor numbers reaching thousands per day. Initially, turnover was around Rp1.8 million per day, but during the first to third days of Eid, it rose significantly to approximately Rp10 million to Rp15 million per day. “Public visits to directly view IKN’s development progress not only create bustle but also bolster the economy for UMKM actors,” said Special Staff to the IKN Authority Head for Public Communications and IKN Authority Spokesperson, Troy Pantouw, in Nusantara on Saturday. He noted that the high volume of tourist visits in the Core Government Centre Area (KIPP) and surrounding IKN areas has proven effective in driving income growth for local residents, including business actors, workers, and related sub-sectors. Several UMKM actors reported increased turnover during the holiday period. For instance, Nita, a business owner at Café Sepaku Empat, said sales activity surged significantly in the early days of Eid. She mentioned that traditional Japanese-style foods like mochi were the best-selling products. Although the production process is time-consuming, sales were very quick, especially popular among children and teenagers. Meanwhile, Wahyu, seller of “Bang Brewok” dawet ayu stationed at the Ceremony Plaza area, also recorded a sales increase, with turnover between Rp10 million and Rp12 million per day. Then, Dina, an UMKM actor selling Nusantara souvenirs, stated that their turnover doubled compared to normal days, particularly from sales of Nusantara clothing. “For example, during holidays like this or specific events, our turnover can reach between Rp10 million and Rp15 million. But without holiday moments or IKN activities, it’s on average around Rp2 million or Rp3 million per day,” said Ichi. Sri Mus Mulyawati from D’sweet Nusantara shared that among the various products prepared, Malang bakwan was the favourite menu that served as the main attraction for visitors. “The taste of this bakwan makes visitors nostalgic. That’s the visitors’ own testimony shared with me. They say that when visiting IKN, they remember D’sweet Nusantara’s Malang Bakwan,” she said. “Access to the IKN area is a key factor in increasing visitor numbers. The opening of road access during the holiday period has a significant impact on the high flow of visitors,” Mulyawati added.
