UMKM Credit Grows 0.12 Percent in March 2026
The Financial Services Authority (OJK) records that micro, small, and medium enterprise (UMKM) credit in March 2026 amounted to Rp 1,498.64 trillion, reflecting a 0.12 percent annual growth. OJK’s Executive Head of Banking Supervision, Dian Ediana Rae, stated that the UMKM credit position has improved compared to February 2026, which experienced a 0.56 percent contraction.
Meanwhile, non-performing loans (NPL) were at 4.60 percent in March 2026. “OJK and the government continue to strive to encourage UMKM growth to realise an inclusive and sustainable national economic growth,” Dian said in a press release on Wednesday, 6 May 2026.
By sector, UMKM credit growth primarily came from the agriculture, forestry, and fisheries economic sector at Rp 11.91 trillion (4.20 percent). This was followed by the financial and insurance activities sector at Rp 8.10 trillion (65.40 percent); and the provision of accommodation and food and beverage services at Rp 2.53 trillion (3.50 percent).
According to Dian, banks and UMKM actors need to develop a business ecosystem capable of supporting optimal and sustainable credit utilisation in line with national economic growth. “In this regard, banks actively provide assistance to UMKM actors to enhance productivity and market development. Meanwhile, UMKM actors also actively improve their competencies and expand networks and synergies among business actors,” she said.
Dian explained that to encourage UMKM credit, OJK has issued POJK Number 19 of 2025 on Ease of Access to Financing for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (POJK UMKM). According to her, the issuance of POJK UMKM aligns with the government’s Asta Cita to increase employment, accelerate economic equality, and eradicate poverty.
