UMKM Connect 2026 Strengthens Financial Literacy for Business Actors
PT Mandiri Tunas Finance (MTF) together with the Indonesian Financing Companies Association (APPI) held UMKM Connect 2026 with the theme Financial Management Strategy and MSME Development at the APPI Secretariat Office in South Jakarta. The hybrid event was attended by micro, small, and medium enterprise (MSME) players from various sectors. The UMKM Connect programme is part of MTF and APPI’s efforts to improve financial literacy whilst strengthening the business capacity of MSMEs, which are one of the main drivers of the national economy. During the event, participants received training on business financial management and business development strategies to enable sustainable growth amidst increasingly tight competition. Multiguna Division Head of Mandiri Tunas Finance, Andes Saputra, stated that sound financial management is a crucial foundation for business continuity, especially for MSMEs looking to expand their business scale. ‘MSME players need to have a good understanding of cash flow management and financial record-keeping in order to make sound business decisions and maintain business sustainability,’ Andes said during the event. In addition to discussing financial aspects, the event also featured the CEO of AIt Perfumery and 1st Place Winner of Beauty & Wellness Wirausaha Muda Mandiri 2024, Edwin Surya Yahya. In his presentation, Edwin shared his experience regarding strategies for building a competitive business capable of growing amidst market dynamics. According to Edwin, the ability to adapt to changing consumer needs and the courage to continuously innovate are important factors in developing a business. ‘Business development does not only depend on a good product, but also on the ability to build networks, understand the market, and create added value that differentiates the business from competitors,’ he said. Through an interactive discussion session, participants gained an understanding of the importance of maintaining healthy cash flow, implementing orderly financial record-keeping, formulating business development strategies, and leveraging collaboration opportunities to expand business networks. This event also served as a space for MSME players to exchange experiences and gain practical insights from speakers with experience in financing and business development. MTF and APPI believe that capacity building for MSME players must be continuously carried out so that the sector can improve its competitiveness and contribute more significantly to national economic growth. Through the synergy built in the UMKM Connect 2026 programme, both institutions hope that business actors can strengthen their business foundations, improve financial management skills, and develop their businesses in a healthier and more sustainable manner. The programme is also expected to serve as an educational tool that encourages MSMEs to be better prepared to face business challenges whilst capitalising on various growth opportunities in the future.
