UMJ's KKN Bina Desa Officially Launched, Bringing Solar Energy and Reforestation Programmes

Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) has officially deployed 30 students for its Kuliah Kerja Nyata (KKN) Bina Desa programme in Cianjur Regency, West Java. The students will carry out community service in two sub-districts, Cugenang and Sukaluyu. The reception event was held together with the Muhammadiyah Regional Leadership (PDM) of Cianjur Regency. Representing PDM Cianjur, Haerudin Hamid expressed appreciation for the students’ presence. He expressed hope that the UMJ KKN students would not only execute their work programmes but also become part of the community through activities that provide sustainable benefits. Haerudin noted that UMJ’s name is well-regarded by the people of Cianjur Regency, citing a lasting contribution in the form of a minibus grant from UMJ, which PDM Cianjur uses to support various religious outreach and community service activities. During the KKN, students will be accompanied by field supervisors. Dina Febriani is assigned to mentor the group in Cugenang, while Ummul Habibah Hasyim will guide the group in Sukaluyu. These locations were chosen for their agricultural potential, which can be developed through various community empowerment programmes. Key initiatives of the 2026 UMJ KKN Bina Desa include the installation of solar-powered lamps to promote environmentally friendly energy use and the distribution of tree seedlings provided by the Ministry of Forestry. These programmes are expected to support environmental resilience while improving the welfare of the target communities. Through this KKN Bina Desa, UMJ continues to strengthen its commitment to community service aligned with the values of Al Islam and Kemuhammadiyahan.
