UMJ Attends Conference and Signs MoU in China to Boost Global Collaboration

Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) is continuing to expand its international network through participation in a series of workshops, the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU), and an international conference held at Tieling Health Vocational College, Liaoning Province, China, from Saturday to Monday (6-8/6/2026). The activities are part of the Mozi Workshop programme, an initiative under the Belt and Road Initiative framework aimed at enhancing international cooperation in vocational education and the health and wellness industry between China and Indonesia. UMJ Rector Ma’mun Murod expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take part in various international agendas in China. He stated that the participation was an important momentum to broaden international networks while opening up opportunities for closer collaboration between UMJ and educational institutions in China. ‘Alhamdulillah, we were able to attend the workshop and participate in quite a number of series. Including today, we were able to join a conference attended by various countries,’ said Ma’mun. He hopes the established cooperation will not stop at ceremonial activities alone. According to him, the collaboration needs to be realised in various programmes that provide benefits for the development of higher education. ‘We hope that this activity becomes the beginning of a broader collaboration. Not only between Tieling Health Vocational College and Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta, but also involving other Muhammadiyah universities so that the benefits can be felt more widely,’ he said. Vice Dean I of the UMJ Faculty of Health Sciences, Ninik Yunitri, explained that the cooperation built with Tieling Health Vocational College focuses on strengthening synergy between universities, local governments, and various supporting institutions in the health sector. The collaboration is expected to open up opportunities for educational development while improving the quality of human resources. ‘The focus of the cooperation is to connect the world of education and the world of industry. We established an MoU with Tieling Health Vocational College, and are also connected with training institutions for the distribution of healthcare workers as well as opening up further study opportunities for students,’ she said. Ninik revealed there is a discourse for students to undertake part of their studies in China and continue them in Indonesia through an inter-university cooperation scheme. ‘We see a very good opportunity for the development of a double degree programme. Students can later study for several years in China and continue their education in Indonesia through partner universities,’ she said. During the visit, the UMJ delegation also visited a drone training centre to enhance student skills, particularly in engineering and related study programmes. The UMJ delegation also attended a dinner banquet with the local governor, attended by the diaspora, industry leaders, and university leaders as a prelude to the international conference held the following day.
