UMJ Agribusiness Students Sweep Awards at National UAD Fair 2026
Agribusiness students from the Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Muhammadiyah Jakarta (UMJ) have brought pride to their institution by winning several awards at the National Student Entrepreneurship Innovation Exhibition (UAD Fair 2026). The event took place on 1-2 July 2026 at Campus 4 of Universitas Ahmad Dahlan (UAD) in Yogyakarta, serving as a platform for students from various Indonesian universities to showcase innovative products, participate in business competitions, and expand entrepreneurial networks. The UMJ Faculty of Agriculture sent two teams from the Agribusiness study programme, presenting innovations based on sustainable agriculture and functional food. Team Suburin, led by Adelia Putri Evirawati with members Ririn Syafitri, Windi Antikasari, and Osatania Briantoro, introduced ‘Suburin’, an organic liquid fertiliser made from rice washing water waste, shallot skins, and eggshells. This product embodies a circular economy concept by transforming household waste into environmentally friendly and economically valuable organic fertiliser. Team Kocha, led by Dini Anggraeni with members Okta Rini, Muhammad Tegar, Muhammad Arifin, and Muhammad Shakil, presented ‘Kocha’, a probiotic drink based on kombucha tea that offers a healthy beverage alternative with digestive health benefits. Through product innovation, creative promotion, and attractive stand displays, the UMJ Agribusiness students won several national-level awards, including second place for Digital Business Poster in the Beverage category, third place for Most Unique Stand in the Creative Industry category, runner-up for Product Innovation in the Beverage category, runner-up for Creative Business Video in the Creative Industry category, and third runner-up for Product Innovation in the Creative Industry category. Dessy Iriani Putri, S.P., M.Si, the supervising lecturer and Head of UMJ’s Business Incubator and Entrepreneurship Centre, stated that student participation in national competitions is part of a learning process that encourages students to develop innovations into products with economic value and market readiness. She noted that events like UAD Fair provide valuable experience for students to test their innovations, hone entrepreneurial skills, and build networks with students and business actors from various regions. The achievements demonstrate that UMJ Agribusiness students can produce innovative products that are not only creative but also have the potential to be developed into sustainable businesses. This participation aligns with UMJ’s commitment to strengthening the entrepreneurship ecosystem on campus through coaching, mentoring, and business incubation. Through synergy between the Faculty of Agriculture and the Business Incubator and Entrepreneurship Centre, students are encouraged to develop innovative ideas based on local potential into nationally competitive products. These accomplishments further strengthen UMJ’s position as an institution that excels not only in education and research but also in actively producing innovation-based young entrepreneurs. Through various entrepreneurship development programmes, students are encouraged to create solutions for challenges in agriculture, food, and the environment, while producing products that provide tangible benefits to society. This achievement reinforces UMJ’s commitment to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also adaptive, innovative, and possess an entrepreneurial spirit capable of addressing the challenges of national development and the creative economy in Indonesia.
