Makassar (ANTARA) - Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar, South Sulawesi, has successfully qualified 85 grant titles for the national BIMA Programme of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemendiktisaintek) for 2026. UMI Rector Prof Dr Hambali Thalib in Makassar on Saturday stated that this achievement serves as a strong indicator of the strengthening culture of research and beneficial community service within UMI’s academic ecosystem. “Alhamdulillah, we express our gratitude together as a form of the state’s trust in UMI. This is not just about the number of grants obtained, but also about the quality of ideas, academic honesty, and our commitment to delivering truly beneficial knowledge,” he said. Of the total, 54 research titles have successfully obtained funding through various strategic schemes, including Second-Year Ongoing Research, Postgraduate Research, Regular Fundamental Research, Prototype Research, and Novice Lecturer Research. Meanwhile, in the community service sector, UMI recorded 31 funded service titles, covering schemes such as Supervised Village Empowerment, Community Partnership Empowerment, Student Community Empowerment, and the Archipelagic Arts Innovation Programme. The Rector also emphasised that the increasing number of successful proposals, including those from novice lecturers, is a positive signal for UMI’s future research, which is becoming more inclusive, collaborative, and sustainable. “We see this as a good sign that the academic culture at UMI is increasingly vibrant. Moving forward, we encourage that every research does not stop at reporting, but is able to produce quality publications, innovations, downstream applications, and concrete solutions for society,” he said. “This is the face of UMI as a university that is not only reputable but also impactful,” Hambali added.
