Makassar (ANTARA) – Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) through the Lembaga Amil Zakat (LAZ) Yayasan Wakaf UMI disbursed a donation of Rp500 million to the Fuzhou Mosque in China as a form of care and the strengthening of humanitarian ties among Muslim communities worldwide.

Masrurah Mokhtar, chair of the Wakaf UMI Foundation, said in Makassar, South Sulawesi, on Friday that the international trip to China was not only about building academic cooperation but also carrying a mission of brotherhood and beneficence.

‘We came not only with a donation, but with greetings of brotherhood from the UMI extended family to our Muslim brothers in Fuzhou,’ she said.

UMI also opened opportunities for Chinese Muslim students to pursue studies at UMI through a recommendation channel from Fuzhou Mosque.

‘For us, the campus is not only a place to build knowledge and technology, but also a place to nurture humanity, ukhuwah, and cross‑border care,’ she added.

‘This aid is part of the spirit of beneficence that UMI continues to uphold. We want to show that humanitarian dawah can also be present through campuses and educational institutions,’ she said.

Pu Lixin, director of Fuzhou Mosque in China, expressed appreciation and emotion at the support given by the UMI family.

‘We are very touched by this support. This is not merely material assistance, but a symbol of brotherhood that is very warm from the Indonesian Muslims,’ he said.

This activity forms part of UMI’s delegation’s international journey to China in order to strengthen collaboration with global technology company Ruijie Networks in Fuzhou and Minjiang University.
