Jakarta — The Rector of Mercu Buana University, Prof. Andi Adriansyah, stressed the importance of the campus providing a space where students can grow and explore their potential in depth. ‘Each student has different potential. The campus must provide a stage for that potential to grow and develop optimally. No talent should be dismissed. No potential left without direction,’ Andi said in a formal statement in Jakarta on Sunday. In the opening of the second semester of the 2025-2026 academic year for bachelor, professional, and master’s programmes in Jakarta, on Saturday (7/3), Andi said the university should provide various outlets for student interests and talents. He is implementing these missions through student activity units in the fields of research, arts, sports, entrepreneurship, and leadership, in line with the Kampus Berdampak programme initiated by the Ministry of Education, Higher Education, Science, and Technology. This is intended to encourage higher education institutions to produce tangible contributions to society. He considers that developing students’ interests and talents is an important part of higher education. With the support of facilities, guidance of student organisations, and networking with various parties, the campus strives to create an environment that allows students to learn, experiment, and contribute to society. Furthermore, he believes that the campus should not only be a space for formal classroom learning, but also for holistic development of student potential. This step is linked to the Kampus Berdampak programme, which emphasises the important role of higher education institutions in creating innovations and solutions to societal problems. In this framework, student activities are viewed as a space of learning capable of generating creative ideas as well as tangible contributions. Through this approach, he hopes that students will not only graduate as academically competent individuals, but also possess social awareness, creativity, and leadership capabilities that can have broad impacts in society.
