UMB and China's ZBTI Launch Live Streaming Education Programme to Strengthen Digital Competence
The massive transformation of the digital industry demands that universities continually adapt in order to strengthen students’ competencies. In response to this challenge, Universitas Mercu Buana (UMB) has established a strategic international collaboration with Zhejiang Business Technology Institute (ZBTI) in Ningbo, China.
This cooperation is being realised through a Live Streaming Education Programme running for three weeks, from 8 to 29 June 2026.
Held at the Meruya campus in West Jakarta, the programme is designed to connect students’ learning experiences directly with the dynamics of global business and industry.
The programme, initiated by the Cooperation Bureau together with UMB’s Faculty of Communication Sciences (FIKOM), involves 21 selected students. During the training period, participants will not only deepen their learning in classrooms and the Multimedia Laboratory, but will also go directly into the field through an industrial visit to Deli Group Indonesia.
Melly Ridaryanthi, Ph.D., Vice Dean of UMB’s Faculty of Communication Sciences, expressed high appreciation for the continuation of the collaboration with ZBTI. According to her, this step is part of efforts to internationalise learning within the campus environment.
“It is an honour for us to welcome Mr Liu once again as a trainer in this collaborative activity. To our students, behave well and absorb as much knowledge and experience as possible from this learning opportunity,” said Melly.
Echoing this sentiment, Dr Liu Hao, Head of the Silk Road Department at ZBTI, highlighted student enthusiasm as a crucial asset in mastering the skills required by global industry. He emphasised the importance of understanding live streaming practice directly alongside an internationally scaled company.
“This is a great opportunity for students to learn live streaming and go straight into industry, especially Deli Group, our partner in this programme, which is a major brand in China,” said Liu Hao.
The collaboration does not stop at short-term training. As a follow-up, UMB and Deli Group Indonesia plan to develop a TikTok Affiliate partnership. This initiative will serve as a real practical medium for students to hone their skills in live streaming and digital commerce professionally.
In addition, for participants who demonstrate active engagement and achievement during the training, there are opportunities for short-course scholarships at the ZBTI campus in Ningbo, China, scheduled for October 2026.
Through strengthening industry-oriented international cooperation, Universitas Mercu Buana is committed to producing graduates who are not only academically excellent but also highly competitive in the global job market.
