Ulza Appreciates President's Commitment to Overseeing Law Enforcement
The Secretary of Universitas Muhammadiyah Prof. DR. HAMKA (UHAMKA), Emiridial Ulza, has expressed appreciation for President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to overseeing law enforcement, particularly regarding alleged corruption cases that have drawn public attention. According to him, the President’s stance demonstrates that the eradication of corruption must be carried out impartially, including when it involves law enforcement officials.
Ulza assessed that the government’s consistency in allowing law enforcement agencies to work independently is crucial capital for strengthening public trust in the legal system. “I appreciate the President’s attitude of continuing to give space for law enforcement officers to work. The message is clear, the law must be enforced regardless of who the person is or what their position is. That is what society needs right now,” Ulza said, as quoted from an official statement on Sunday (12/7).
He suggested that public attention should remain focused on the ongoing legal process. He reminded various parties not to build new issues that could divert attention from the substance of the case. “We must not get caught up in new commotion, while the legal process itself becomes obscured by various speculations. What needs to be monitored is how the law enforcement process runs to completion, openly, and accountably,” he stated.
Ulza also called on all national elites to give space to law enforcement officers to carry out their duties in accordance with legal provisions. According to him, support for the legal process is far more necessary than narratives that have the potential to divide public attention. He added that cases attracting public attention should be used as momentum to demonstrate that law enforcement institutions are capable of working professionally, independently, and accountably.
“Now is the time for the apparatus to prove that the law truly works. If the process is professional, transparent, and the results are accountable, public trust will be restored. That is the most important thing,” said Ulza. He stressed that the entire legal process must uphold the principle of the presumption of innocence. Every person has equal rights before the law, while the determination of guilt or innocence can only be decided through a final and binding court ruling. According to him, eradicating corruption is not only aimed at punishing perpetrators, but also at strengthening the integrity of state institutions and ensuring that justice is felt by the public.
