Banjarmasin (ANTARA) - Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has sent a student delegation to a community service programme titled the Joint Community Service Scheme (KKN) with the Kalimantan Universities Consortium (KUC)–Borneo Studies Network (BSN) 2026, to be held in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN).

“Two ULM students are among the 34 KKN participants deployed to IKN,” said ULM Vice-Rector IV, Yusuf Azis, in Banjarmasin on Tuesday.

Both are accompanied by Ira Pusphita Sari, S.Kel., M.Kel., Vice-Dean of the ULM Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences, serving as field supervising lecturer.

Yusuf Azis explained that the 2026 Joint KKN with KUC–BSN is an implementation of the three pillars of higher education, particularly community service, carried out collaboratively by KUC member universities together with the Borneo Studies Network (BSN), Higher Education Service Institution (LLDIKTI) Region XI, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology, the National Standardisation Agency (BSN), and the Nusantara Capital City Authority.

The programme is a tangible form of contribution by Kalimantan universities in supporting the development of IKN through education, research, innovation, and community service.

The flagship component of this year’s Joint KKN is a living lab, in which students are placed within several deputyships of the IKN Authority according to their respective academic backgrounds.

From each deputyship, students are then assigned to directorates relevant to their field of study.

During the programme, the students stay in the workers’ residential tower, while the field supervising lecturers stay in the civil servants’ tower.

“This KKN offers students valuable cross-campus and cross-regional learning experience, allowing them to contribute to development in IKN,” Yusuf added.
