ULM Sends Students to Serve in Nusantara Capital City

Universitas Lambung Mangkurat (ULM) has sent a student delegation to participate in a community service programme titled the 2026 Joint Community Service Programme (KKN) of the Kalimantan Universities Consortium (KUC)–Borneo Studies Network (BSN), held in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN). Two ULM students are among the 34 participants in the KKN programme at IKN, said ULM Vice Rector IV Yusuf Azis in Banjarmasin on Tuesday. Both students are accompanied by Ira Pusphita Sari, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Sciences at ULM, who serves as a field supervisor. Yusuf Azis explained that the 2026 Joint KUC–BSN KKN is an implementation of the three pillars of higher education, specifically community service, carried out collaboratively by KUC member universities together with the Borneo Studies Network (BSN), the Higher Education Service Institute (LLDIKTI) Region XI, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, the National Standardisation Agency (BSN), and the Nusantara Capital City Authority. This programme represents a tangible contribution from Kalimantan’s universities in supporting the development of IKN through education, research, innovation, and community service. The flagship programme of this year’s Joint KKN is a living lab, which places students in various deputyships of the IKN Authority according to their respective academic disciplines. From each deputyship, students are then assigned to directorates relevant to their study programmes. During the activity, the students stay in a workers’ residential tower, while the field supervisors stay in a civil servant tower. ‘This KKN provides a valuable cross-campus and cross-regional learning experience for students to contribute to the development of IKN,’ added Yusuf.
