Ulemas will study from Turks
SEMARANG: Seven ulemas and some officials from the Central Java provincial administration will fly next month to Turkey to study the development of Islam there, according to a member of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI).
The delegation would study the struggle of ulemas and scholars to bring back the spirit of Islam to the secularized country, said secretary of the provincial office of MUI, Chabib Thoha.
He was quoted by Antara as saying the delegation would also study how Turkey organizes haj pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia. He said the visit would also aim to build better relations between Indonesian and Turkish ulemas.
The delegation will be led by MUI leader Sahal Mahfudz. (09)
