Ulemas to visit Jakarta
PONTIANAK, West Kalimantan: Twenty ulemas from West Kalimantan
will travel to Jakarta for an audience with President Soeharto
today, Antara reported yesterday.
The ulemas will hold Friday prayers together with the head of
state before the meeting, the news agency said quoting Djuni
Hamidy, secretary of the province's chapter of the Indonesian
Ulema Council.
Their chief mission is to express gratitude in connection with
Indonesia's 50th independence anniversary.
For the past few months, the President has received similar
greetings from representatives of ulemas in Java. Ulemas from
other Kalimantan provinces will also have their turn. (emb)
