Ukrainian National Allegedly Kidnapped in Bali, Police Intensify Border Checkpoints
A Ukrainian national named Ihor Komarav (28) has been reported missing in Bali. Ihor is suspected to be a victim of kidnapping.
“The identity of the person reported missing is known to be Ihor Komarav, a 28-year-old male, Ukrainian citizen, with passport number GF741959,” said Gianyar Police public relations section head Inspector Gusti Ngurah Suardita in a statement on Sunday (22/2/2026).
Ihor is believed to have been abducted by an individual since Saturday (21/2) evening. Suardita said the kidnapping report was forwarded from the Bali Regional Police.
Police subsequently conducted vehicle checks on cars and motorcycles on Saturday (21/2) at 21:45 local time. The operation was carried out to narrow the movements of the suspected kidnapper, who was believed to be heading towards Gianyar.
Dozens of personnel from the Criminal Investigation Unit, Traffic Unit, Mobile Brigade, Narcotics Unit and Internal Affairs of Gianyar Police were deployed in the operation. The checkpoint was set up at the Gianyar district border, specifically at the Tulikup-Sidan Road intersection.
“The entire operation lasted until 23:00 local time. The inspection did not uncover any suspects or vehicles suspected of being linked to the kidnapping case,” he said.
Suardita noted that despite the checkpoint yielding no results, routine patrols would continue to maintain public security and order, particularly in following up on high-profile cases.
