Ukraine says it is ready to halt strikes if Russia does the same
Kyiv (ANTARA) - Ukraine is ready to halt certain attacks if Russia does the same, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said on Monday (14/9).
“If our partners are ready to ensure that Russia genuinely refrains from attacking our power systems, other energy facilities, critical infrastructure and food supply routes, then of course we are ready to ensure a corresponding halt to attacks,” Zelensky said on X, as reported by Xinhua.
He said that every partial ceasefire must be reliable and long-lasting, and must remain in force after Russia’s general elections scheduled to be held this month.
At the same time, Zelensky emphasised that the conflict must be brought to an end, and de-escalation steps involving critical infrastructure could be a first step towards peace.
Earlier the same day, US President Donald Trump said Ukraine and Russia had agreed to halt attacks on energy infrastructure.
