Riyadh — Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha has urged Iran to halt its attacks on Gulf region countries during a telephone dialogue with Gulf Cooperation Council Secretary General Jasem Albudaiwi.

The two officials discussed regional developments amid heightened tensions involving military actions by the United States and Israel against Iran.

During the conversation, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister affirmed his country’s support for GCC nations following Iranian strikes on their territories. Sybiha emphasised the critical importance of Iran ending military attacks against GCC states and urged an immediate cessation of all forms of escalation.

Albudaiwi welcomed Ukraine’s support and sponsorship of UN Security Council Resolution 2817, which condemns Iranian attacks against GCC member states and Jordan.

The GCC Secretary General reaffirmed the council’s position on the Russia-Ukraine conflict, stating it is grounded in principles of international law and the UN Charter. These principles include national sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, non-interference in internal affairs, and restraint from the use or threat of force.

The two officials also discussed strengthening cooperation between Ukraine and the GCC to serve their mutual interests.
