Ukraine Appreciates Indonesia's Stance at the United Nations
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Ukraine’s Chargé d’Affaires Ad Interim Yevhenia Shynkarenko has expressed appreciation for Indonesia’s consistency in supporting UN resolutions concerning Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
“We value Indonesia’s stance and position, and we hope it will continue,” Shynkarenko said after the opening of the photo exhibition “Four Years of Resilience” in Jakarta on Monday (23/2).
She made the remarks when asked about Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto’s visit to Russia and the absence of a visit to Ukraine.
Shynkarenko affirmed that every country has the right to determine its own cooperation partners and alliances.
“Of course, we hope that Indonesia will make the right choice and that it will serve its own national interests,” she said.
On the same occasion, Finland’s Ambassador to Indonesia Pekka Kaihilahti said that global conflicts, including in Ukraine, undermine the international system that is important to Indonesia.
He stressed that Indonesia is free to choose its partners but needs to weigh the benefits and risks of each partnership in a balanced manner.
“You consider your economic interests, then on the other side your interest in preserving the international system, and in particular, you consider the trust in your partners,” he said.
