Ukraine and Germany to Jointly Develop Ballistic Missile Defence System

Kiev (ANTARA) - Ukrinform reported on Wednesday (17/6) that Ukrainian and German defence companies have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to jointly develop the Freyja ground-based anti-ballistic missile air defence system. The document, signed by Ukraine’s Fire Point and Germany’s Hensoldt at the Eurosatory defence exhibition in Paris, France, outlines plans to jointly integrate existing, battle-tested components into an air defence system capable of detecting and intercepting ballistic missiles. Fire Point, as the prime contractor for the project, will be responsible for the overall system concept, production, testing, and the provision of FP-7 missiles, launchers, and control systems. Hensoldt will be responsible for the production, testing, and supply of radar systems for Freyja, as well as supporting their integration into the overall system.
