UK firm plans RI expo

JAKARTA (JP): United Kingdom-based trade exhibition organizer
Miller Freeman announced on Wednesday it would hold an
information technology exhibition here in October in cooperation
with local partner PT Internusa Promosarana.

Connectivity Indonesia 1999: International Communications and
Networking Solutions will be held in the Jakarta Convention
Center from Oct. 12 to Oct. 15.

The organizer said the exhibition was rather different from
other computer events because instead of promoting the retail of
personal computers and accessories, the event would be more of a
showcase of solutions in the communications and networking
industry which could benefit Indonesian businesses.

The organizer said it also was working with the Association of
Indonesian Private Commercial Banks to hold a seminar on
technology in the banking sector as well as solutions in meeting
Year 2000 compliance.

The exhibition is also being supported by the Indonesian
Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Ministry of Industry and
Trade and the Agency for the Assessment and Application of
Technology. (gis)
