DEPOK, KOMPAS.com - Complaints from netizens about changes in acceptance status for the Talent Scouting Programme of the Special International Undergraduate Class (S1 KKI) at the University of Indonesia went viral on social media. Several participants claimed they were initially declared passed but later changed to not passing due to a system disruption. This was experienced by Budi’s child, JIS, who was initially declared passed as a prospective student in the Accounting programme at the Faculty of Economics and Business UI on Tuesday (17/3/2026) around 19:02 WIB. “We immediately informed the extended family, prayed together, and celebrated it. From my child’s school, there were 7 people who registered. At 19:00 WIB, four people were declared passed,” said Budi when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday (18/3/2026). However, the acceptance status that was initially green turned red, meaning not passed. “My child immediately screamed hysterically. It turns out it was already viral on social media, many children from other schools experienced the same thing, namely already passed but suddenly annulled at 21:40 WIB,” revealed Budi. A similar condition was also experienced by a student from South Tangerang, Zhalika Tisyadi, who was initially declared passed as a Communication Studies student at the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences UI on Tuesday around 18:40 WIB. However, at 22:00 WIB, the selection result changed and stated that Zhalika did not pass. “Several errors occurred, but the worst was at 21:00-22:00 WIB before I could access the site again, it errored and the website could not be opened,” she explained. “It’s also very embarrassing for me because many people had already congratulated me. I still hope for a fix,” she continued. In response to this, the University of Indonesia (UI) conveyed an apology for the inconsistency in the display of Talent Scouting Programme S1 KKI selection results. UI’s Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs, Erwin Panigoro, explained that there was a brief system disruption. “This inconsistency occurred within a 40-minute period after the system displayed non-final data,” Erwin stated in an official statement on Wednesday (18/3/2026). The non-compliant data is estimated to have appeared on the site for 40 minutes, so some participants had already accessed the site.
