Ibra Maulana (23), a suspect in the embezzlement of 40 motorcycles belonging to campus friends, was a student at UIN Walisongo, Semarang, Central Java. Ibra has now been officially sanctioned with expulsion (drop-out/DO) by the university for committing a serious violation. The sanction was announced by the Vice Rector for Student Affairs, Alumni, and Cooperation at UIN Walisongo Semarang, Umul Baroroh. She also stated that Ibra had not paid his tuition fees (UKT) for two semesters. “The individual has been officially expelled for committing a serious ethical violation. Based on academic tracing, the person in question had indeed been inactive and had not paid UKT for two consecutive semesters,” Baroroh said in a written statement received on Wednesday (10/6/2026). Margono, from the Academic and Student Affairs Department at UIN Walisongo, explained that the internal disciplinary process against Ibra, who was also an active member of the Student Senate, was carried out in a measured manner through an ethics hearing before the final decision was taken. Margono stated that the first report was received by the Student Affairs Department on 22 May 2026 from one of the student victims. Following up on the report, the university immediately moved to form an investigation team on 25 May 2026. “The investigation team worked intensively from 25 to 28 May 2026 to gather evidence and delve into the case. Before the expulsion decision was issued, we first held an Ethics Hearing,” said Margono. During this process, it was also revealed that Ibra had disappeared for four semesters. Margono learned this from Ibra’s academic advisor. “From further tracking, the relevant academic advisor also confirmed that the individual had disappeared for four semesters and had never attended academic supervision,” Margono revealed. Margono stated that Ibra was officially given a severe academic sanction in the form of dismissal or expulsion as a student of UIN Walisongo on 29 May 2026. The imposition of this sanction was based on the Rector’s Decree Number 648 of 2024, Chapter 5 concerning Student Discipline, Point D.
