UIN KHAS Jember Establishes Professional Certification Body to Boost Graduate Competitiveness
Universitas Islam Negeri Kiai Haji Achmad Siddiq (UIN KHAS) Jember continues to strengthen the quality of its graduates through the presence of a Professional Certification Body (LSP). The existence of the LSP is expected to provide added value for graduates, not only through diplomas but also through competency certificates that serve as proof of professional ability.
This achievement has been appreciated as a strategic step by UIN KHAS Jember in preparing graduates who possess competencies aligned with the needs of the workforce and the times.
“I am pleased with the achievement of Universitas Islam Negeri KH. Ahmad Siddiq, which now has a Professional Certification Body or LSP,” said Commissioner of the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP), Dr KH Muhammad Nur Hayid, on Tuesday (18/8/2026).
According to him, the existence of the LSP will provide greater confidence to graduates when entering the workforce. In addition to obtaining a diploma as proof of having completed the educational process, graduates who are declared competent will also possess a competency certificate after undergoing a competency assessment process.
“With this LSP, it is hoped that all UIN KHAS graduates will no longer worry or feel awkward upon graduation. Besides having a diploma from completing the final learning process, they will also have a competency certificate from the Professional Certification Body for graduates who are declared competent after the competency assessment process,” he said.
Gus Hayid, as he is commonly called, considers the competency certificate to be an important strength for graduates in facing competition in the professional world. The certificate also demonstrates that a graduate not only possesses academic knowledge but is also able to prove their professional skills and attitude.
Furthermore, the existence of the LSP is expected to further strengthen recognition of UIN KHAS Jember’s role in preparing professional, competent, and competitive human resources.
“God willing, with this LSP, UIN KHAS will be increasingly recognised for its role in preparing professional, competent, and competitive graduates,” he explained.
Nevertheless, Gus Hayid reminded that the mandate attached to the LSP after obtaining a licence from the National Professional Certification Board (BNSP) must be truly upheld. The certification process must be carried out objectively and in accordance with established competency standards.
“We hope that the LSP mandate through the BNSP licence granted to UIN KHAS is properly maintained. Please ensure that those holding competency certificates are people who are truly competent,” he stressed.
He emphasised that competency certificates must not be awarded simply because someone has completed their education or attended a certification process. Students who have not been able to demonstrate their competence must be declared not yet competent until they meet the required standards.
“Students who are not competent, who upon graduation cannot yet prove their competence through skill, knowledge, and attitude, should not be given a competency certificate,” he asserted.
According to him, this principle is important to maintain the credibility of the LSP while ensuring that competency certificates truly hold value and trust in the eyes of the public and the workforce.
“That is the difference between people who hold BNSP certificates and those who do not,” he concluded.
Meanwhile, Vice Rector for Academic Affairs and Institutional Development of UIN KHAS Jember, M. Khusna Amal, affirmed that competency assessment through the LSP is part of the university’s responsibility in improving the quality of graduates.
According to him, competency certificates are expected to serve as additional capital for students when entering the workforce. Thus, UIN KHAS Jember graduates will not only carry diplomas and academic qualifications but also possess nationally standardised proof of competence.
“It is not merely that we have an LSP, not merely that once we have an LSP, we can certify and issue certificates recommended by BNSP. But this is a mandate to educate the nation’s children,” said M. Khusna Amal.
With the presence of the LSP, UIN KHAS Jember is expected not only to produce academically excellent graduates but also to generate human resources capable of demonstrating measurable, professional competence and readiness to compete in the workforce.
