Banda Aceh (ANTARA) - Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) Ar Raniry Banda Aceh has announced it has paid the first phase of Single Tuition Fees (UKT) for 842 flood-affected students out of a total of 1,621 who passed verification.

“Alhamdulillah, today the university has fulfilled its commitment to assist flood-affected students by paying their tuition fees, so that our students who have been struck by disaster can continue their studies,” said UIN Ar Raniry Rector Prof Mujiburrahman in Banda Aceh on Monday.

He explained that from Monday, the team would carry out further verification for students who had already paid their UKT and those listed as tuition assistance recipients, with those funds in the process of being refunded.

Mujiburrahman also urged students to monitor official information through the university’s social media accounts regarding the mechanism and schedule for fund reimbursements. The verification process for the second phase of UKT payments is also still under way.

The eligibility criteria for tuition payment recipients stipulate that students must not currently be receiving scholarships from other institutions, such as KIP, Baznas, or other educational assistance programmes.

In addition to tuition payments from the university’s internal funds, UKT assistance has also been obtained from a number of partner institutions. PT Surveyor Indonesia has provided assistance to 62 students in group 1 for tuition funding covering two semesters.

Meanwhile, Samarah and VMD Peduli have channelled assistance to 19 students for one semester of tuition payments.

Overall, UIN Ar Raniry has submitted education assistance requests to the ministry and several institutions to help 4,035 students recorded as coming from families affected by hydrometeorological disasters in Aceh.

“Based on internal campus data collection, 4,035 students economically affected by the disaster have had their education costs submitted to the Ministry of Religious Affairs as well as a number of other agencies and institutions,” Mujiburrahman said.
