UIII Receives Book Donation from the Japanese Embassy
Depok (ANTARA) - The Jusuf Kalla Library of the International Islamic University of Indonesia (UIII) received a donation of 160 books from the Japanese Embassy through the Read Japan Project, on Wednesday.
The Read Japan Project is a global initiative that has donated books to more than 1,400 institutions worldwide since 2008.
This collection of English-language books was presented by the Japanese Embassy to support international references at UIII.
The handover was carried out by Myochin Mitsuru, Chargés d’Affaires ad interim of Japan, and Syafiq Hasyim, Director of Library and Culture, and was witnessed by UIII Rector Prof. Jamhari, as well as delegations from both sides.
The Rector of UIII, Prof. Jamhari, expressed his appreciation for the support of the Japanese Embassy in facilitating the book donation.
“We are very happy that The Japan Foundation has finally agreed to donate books to our library. Hopefully, this is the beginning of a series of further collaborations. We hope that it is not limited to these books, but also other books in the future,” said Prof. Jamhari.
On this occasion, Myochin Mitsuru expressed his hope that the collection would be beneficial to the public.
“I am happy to see this newly completed library. Hopefully, many Indonesians will read these books to learn more about Japan and its people,” he said.
Meanwhile, Syafiq Hasyim said that this collection is very important to enrich academic references.
“These books enrich our library with quality research. Our relationship with Japan has been established for a long time, especially in supporting the development of this campus,” he said.
