UI to open new master's program

JAKARTA: Minister of Social Affairs Bachtiar Chamsyah and
University of Indonesia (UI) rector Usman Chatib Warsa signed an
agreement on Tuesday to develop a new master's program in social
welfare management.

Bachtiar said the program aimed to enhance professionalism and
competence in social work.

Usman said the new master's included discussion forums on
social policies and research.

"I hope an internship program for UI students at the social
affairs ministry will follow," he said.

The ministry also has agreements with foreign universities,
such as Australia's La Trobe University and the Malaysian
University of Technology. -- Antara
