Depok (ANTARA) - Universitas Indonesia (UI) has imposed a temporary academic suspension on 16 students from the Faculty of Law suspected of verbal violence, effective from 15 April to 30 May 2026.

The policy is based on an Internal Memo on the Follow-up Plan for Examination (RTLP) from UI’s Task Force on the Prevention and Handling of Violence (Satgas PPK), dated 15 April 2026. The Task Force has officially recommended the temporary freezing of the student status for the 16 reported individuals.

“This step is taken as part of the university’s commitment to ensuring the examination process runs objectively, protecting all involved parties, and maintaining a conducive academic environment,” stated UI’s Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs, Erwin Agustian Panigoro, in his statement on Wednesday.

During the suspension period, the suspects are not permitted to participate in any educational activities or teaching and learning processes, including lectures, academic guidance, or other academic-related activities.

Additionally, they are prohibited from being on campus premises, except for examination purposes by the Satgas PPK or urgent, non-postponable matters under university supervision.

The university has also imposed restrictions on the suspects’ involvement in student organisation activities. Intensive monitoring is in place to prevent any direct or indirect interactions with victims or witnesses during the examination process.
