UI teams up with 4 top universities to form public policy school association

The Faculty of Administrative Sciences (FIA) at the University of Indonesia (UI) has become one of the initiators in establishing the Asian School of Public Affairs Association (ASPAA) together with four other leading universities. Besides UI (QS WUR #189), the other founders are Zhejiang University (QS WUR #49), Nanyang Technological University (QS WUR #12), City University of Hong Kong (QS WUR #63), and the University of Macau (QS WUR #285). Teguh Kurniawan, Vice Dean for Education, Research, and Student Affairs at FIA UI, stated in Depok on Thursday that UI’s presence as a founding member of the association demonstrates international recognition of its academic capacity and its contribution to the development of public affairs studies, public policy, and governance at both regional and global levels. “ASPAA opens up space for closer collaboration among universities in Asia to develop innovative curricula and research relevant to current public governance challenges. UI’s presence as a founder reflects our commitment to delivering tangible contributions, while strengthening Indonesia’s position in the international academic arena,” he said. The formation of ASPAA is a strategic step to strengthen networks among Schools of Public Affairs in Asia, while encouraging the development of Asian perspectives in public policy studies. The association is expected to expand international collaboration in education and research, strengthen the exchange of ideas and best practices, and increase the global impact on policy development and public governance. This dialogue serves as a strategic space to build closer collaboration among higher education institutions in responding to increasingly complex global governance changes.
