Depok - Three students from the University of Indonesia (UI) Creative Business programme in the Vocational Education programme have created the UMKM-GO innovation, which brings digital solutions to support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The UMKM-GO innovator team, consisting of Muhammad Fayadh, Adiba Khanza Aleyna Putri, and Stevy Fiter Andina Simatupang, was motivated to present an artificial intelligence (AI)-based solution to help MSME actors analyse business feasibility objectively, in a structured manner, and based on data. “By utilising AI, the UMKM-GO platform is capable of providing fast, consistent analysis that can be accessed by many users. This platform not only helps MSMEs improve management quality but also encourages a shift in mindset towards data-based decision-making,” said Muhammad Fayadh in Depok on Monday. Through the artificial intelligence (AI)-based platform innovation named UMKM-GO, they bring digital solutions to support the development of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). Through this platform, MSMEs can obtain a comprehensive business readiness score along with in-depth analysis and strategic recommendations. Investors are also facilitated with a more efficient screening system to find potential MSMEs. This approach demonstrates the use of AI-based big data that can process, analyse, and interpret large amounts of data into valuable information, thus producing real solutions for business ecosystem development. Moreover, the UMKM-GO innovation also contributes to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). For SDG number 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), UMKM-GO supports increased productivity and business sustainability through more accurate performance analysis. Meanwhile, for SDG number 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), this platform strengthens the digital infrastructure of the MSME sector with adaptive and relevant AI technology for contemporary needs. “UMKM-GO reflects the integration of science, innovation, and contributions to sustainable development,” he said. Nevertheless, the team realises that the main challenge in implementing this platform lies in the quality and validity of MSME data. To address this, they have developed a system with a simple validation mechanism to ensure the accuracy of analysis results. In the future, UMKM-GO is expected to be developed through collaboration with the government, financial institutions, and other strategic partners, so that it can be utilised as a tool in more targeted, inclusive, and data-based MSME mentoring programmes. The birth of the UMKM-GO innovation proves that UI continues to be a cradle for the emergence of creative talents capable of producing innovations with real impacts for society.
