A mass of students from the University of Indonesia’s Student Executive Board (BEM UI) remains blocked from reaching the Bundaran HI roundabout and is currently voicing their demands near the Tosari bus stop. Based on monitoring on Friday (12/6/2026), the crowd was halted before the Tosari stop, with joint security forces guarding access to the Bundaran HI area. The students arrived carrying posters of their demands and protest paraphernalia, chanting slogans for the planned demonstration. Meanwhile, traffic in the vicinity became congested as the crowd occupied the Transjakarta bus lane, bringing bus services to a halt.

Earlier, the students departed from UI Depok using two buses but were stopped in front of the DPR building. The group then opted to conduct a long march from the Senayan area towards Bundaran HI. Separately, other UI students had already reached Bundaran HI. “Yes, we are just ordinary students. But we came separately, and the latest information is that all our friends are still being held, still blockaded by police in the area around the DPR. So we cannot yet start the protest at Bundaran HI, because we intend to stay here. We will not move. But unfortunately, the police are still blockading us,” said Diallo, a UI student who had arrived at Bundaran HI.

Polda Metro Jaya spokesperson Kombes Budi Hermanto stated that police are coordinating to redirect the students from Bundaran HI to the Patung Kuda area or the DPR/MPR complex. He argued that the Bundaran HI area is an economic zone. “Indeed, we know that the area around Bundaran HI is not a place for conveying aspirations, because there are economic activities and other public activities there. So we should all understand and respect each other,” Budi said at the parliamentary complex in Senayan, Jakarta, on Friday (12/6/2026). Budi added that the Intelligence Directorate is working to communicate the relocation of the protest point so that the students’ aspirations can still be properly conveyed and protected by law.
