UI Student Union Responds to Student Joining Vice President Gibran's Working Visit
The Alliance of the Student Family Association of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, University of Indonesia (IKM FIB UI) has responded to the participation of one of its students in a working visit by Indonesian Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka. Gibran invited five students on the working visit to East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Gorontalo, and Papua. The visit was described as part of the government’s effort to strengthen oversight and improve the governance of the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) programme and the Red and White Village Cooperatives (KDMP).
“Today we are accompanied by several student representatives. We will depart for Ende, Gorontalo, and also Papua. So, the government is committed to continuously improving the governance of MBG and the cooperatives,” Gibran said at Halim Perdanakusuma Air Force Base, Jakarta, Thursday (17/6), in a press release. The students said to be accompanying Gibran on the visit were Keletus Sakaro from Sanata Dharma University, Daffa Ulhaq from the University of Indonesia, Nolan Christoper Adam from Pelita Harapan University, Rapid Bena Matin from Jenderal Soedirman University, and Salsabila Maulida from the Indonesian Institute of Arts and Culture.
In an official statement via its Instagram account on Friday (19/6), the IKM FIB UI Alliance confirmed that Daffa Ulhaq is an active student at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences UI. However, Daffa’s participation was in a personal capacity. “The presence, participation, and use of campus attributes in the form of a UI alma mater jacket by the individual concerned in this state agenda was carried out in a personal capacity and does not in any way represent the stance of IKM FIB UI, BEM FIB UI, or any Student Association of Departments/Study Programmes within the FIB UI environment,” the official statement from the IKM FIB UI Alliance read.
“All actions taken by the individual in the activity are purely a personal initiative or affiliated with an external party assignment, which is entirely outside the coordination line, authority, and approval of intra-campus student institutions of FIB UI,” the statement continued. Gibran conducted a series of working visits throughout the weekend. On Friday (19/6), Gibran inspected the Bulango Ulu Dam in Gorontalo. On Saturday (20/6), Gibran opened the XVII National Farmers and Fishermen Week (PENAS) 2026 in Gorontalo. Previously, Gibran also reviewed the revitalisation of the Mbongawani Old Market in Ende, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT).
