UI Student Executive Board to Return to the Streets, 'Seize' Hotel Indonesia Roundabout

The University of Indonesia’s Student Executive Board (BEM UI) will return to the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout after previously failing to hold a demonstration in the area. The action is being carried out to demand changes from the government. BEM UI Chairperson Yatalathof Ma’shum Imawan stated that the BEM is still conducting internal consolidation to stage a follow-up protest. He confirmed that the subsequent action will be held at the HI Roundabout area. “It will be at HI again. It is still in the internal process,” he said when confirmed on Monday (15/6/2026). Meanwhile, Chairperson of the BEM Faculty of Law (FH) UI, Anandaku Dimas Rumi, said his side would evaluate the course of the action last Friday. The evaluation is being conducted to design the next action to be carried out by students. “We will consolidate immediately. We will reassess and evaluate yesterday’s action, with the hope that we can take to the streets again soon,” he said when confirmed on Saturday (13/6/2026).
