UI Student Executive Board to Protest at National Police Headquarters This Afternoon, Highlighting Brimob Abuse Case in Tual
The University of Indonesia’s Student Executive Board (BEM UI) plans to hold a demonstration outside the National Police Headquarters in South Jakarta this afternoon, Friday, 27 February 2026.
“We will be there at the National Police Headquarters this afternoon. The meeting point is around 2 p.m. WIB at the headquarters,” said Muhammad Hafidz Haernanda, BEM UI’s Coordinator of Social and Political Affairs, when confirmed by Kompas.com on Friday.
According to Hafidz, repressive actions by law enforcement against civilians cannot be tolerated, especially when the number of victims is seen as continuously increasing.
“An institution that should protect has become a uniformed executioner, crushing the dignity and honour of individual citizens one by one. If allowed to continue, cruelty will spread further. Without voices of resistance, justice will be buried,” he said.
He stated that the protest participants will first gather at the FISIP UI campus field before departing to Jakarta at approximately 1 p.m. WIB.
