JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com - The Student Executive Board (BEM) of Universitas Indonesia (UI) will hold an action in the backyard of the Constitutional Court (MK), Central Jakarta, on Wednesday (8/4/2026) at 10:00 WIB.

The Head of the Action and Propaganda Department of BEM UI 2026, Albani Ilmi, stated that today’s action calls for #RejectMilitarisation.

According to him, the acid attack case against the Deputy Coordinator of KontraS, Andrie Yunus, serves as proof that the lives and bodies of justice fighters are considered cheap in Indonesia.

“Especially regarding Article 74. We demand the abolition of impunity,” said Albani when contacted by Kompas.com on Wednesday.

“Military courts must no longer serve as a fortress of protection for members who commit civilian criminal acts,” he emphasised.

BEM UI also invites all parties to monitor the material judicial review lawsuit against the TNI Law at the MK.

In addition, BEM UI demands accountability from state apparatus for the violence inflicted on Andrie Yunus.

“Do not let the law be sharp only against the little people, but blunt in the face of gun barrels,” Albani stated.
