UI Student Council Demands Expulsion of 16 Suspected Sexual Assault Perpetrators
Students from the Faculty of Law at the University of Indonesia (FH UI) are urging the university to expel 16 suspected perpetrators of sexual violence. This demand was voiced by BEM UI Chairman Yatalathof Ma’shun Imawan during a forum held at the Djokosoetono Auditorium in FH UI on Monday evening, 13 April 2026.
“Students from FH UI demand that the 16 perpetrators be dropped out,” he stated.
The forum was organised to address the aftermath of the alleged sexual harassment case involving dozens of FH UI students. It was attended by the Dean of FH UI, and the suspected perpetrators were also demanded to be present.
From Tempo’s observations at the location, two suspected perpetrators, wearing long-sleeved white shirts, stood accompanied by FH UI Dean Parulian Paidi Aritonang. However, the other 14 suspects had not yet arrived, as they were prohibited by their parents.
This situation angered the attending students, who requested that the Dean of FH UI communicate with the parents of the suspects to ensure their attendance.
“In this regard, we hope that the Dean and the faculty can use their authority, even imperatively against their parents,” said one female student who served as the forum moderator.
In response, FH UI Dean Parulian Paidi Aritonang requested 10 minutes to communicate again with the parents of the suspects.
“If I cannot convince them, I ask some of you to join,” said Parulian.
While Tempo was inside the Djokosoetono Auditorium, two students asked Tempo to leave the building, citing that it was a student forum.
From observations on social media, past midnight, the 14 suspected perpetrators finally agreed to enter the forum. The incident was recorded in a video circulating on social media. The moments when the suspects entered the forum nearly led to chaos among the students, with some approaching the perpetrators and hurling curses.
When reconfirmed on Tuesday morning, 14 April 2026, BEM UI Chairman Athof revealed the results of the previous night’s forum: the Dean of FH UI committed to imposing firm sanctions.
“It could even result in dropout if the serious misconduct is proven in the process,” Athof disclosed.
Now, continued this student from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UI, the Sexual Violence Prevention Task Force (Satgas PPKS) is overseeing the case. “Some say the process will take H+5,” Athof said.
