UI Student Body to Accompany Victims in Filing Report to Sexual Violence Task Force
The University of Indonesia Student Executive Body, known as BEM UI, will accompany victims in making an official report to the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPKS) on Tuesday, 14 April 2026. Previously, 16 students from the UI Faculty of Law were suspected of committing sexual violence.
“As a form of escort, the UI-wide BEM Alliance, together with the victims’ legal representatives, will file an official report to the UI Satgas PPKS,” said BEM UI Chair Yatalathof Ma’shun Imawan on Tuesday morning.
Athof, as he is known, stressed that the UI-wide BEM Alliance strongly rejects all forms of impunity. He stated that justice must be upheld.
“The campus should be a safe space, not a refuge for sexual predators,” said Athof.
To that end, they demand that the Dean of FH UI and the UI Rectorate take firm action against the perpetrators and investigate the case thoroughly with principles of justice.
“This case must be processed transparently immediately with the strictest sanctions for all perpetrators without exception,” he emphasised.
Athof revealed that after the reporting is completed, they will hold a press conference around midday at the UI Student Activity Centre (Pusgiwa).
“There is no negotiation for sexual violence and no safe space for the perpetrators at UI. Let us close ranks and escort this until it is resolved,” Athof said.
