The University of Indonesia (UI) has maintained its position as the number one higher education institution in Indonesia in the QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) 2027, remaining within the world’s top 200. UI Rector Heri Hermansyah in Depok on Saturday stressed that the success in retaining a top 200 global position is a foundation that must be continuously built upon, not a point for complacency. UI successfully maintained its position in the world’s top 200 by placing 191st, while also remaining the only university in Indonesia to consistently break into the global Top 200. Heri said that staying in the world’s top 200 amid increasingly fierce global competition is an achievement to be grateful for. However, it is not the ultimate goal, as UI must work harder, faster, and smarter to enhance its contribution at the international level. “This achievement is the result of the collective work of the entire academic community, alumni, and partners. With the same spirit, we will continue to move forward,” said Heri. At the regional level, UI is positioned in the Top 8 in Southeast Asia and the Top 50 in Asia. UI’s performance is underpinned by several key indicators, namely Employer Reputation (87.4), Employment Outcomes (81.0), and International Faculty Ratio (88.4). These achievements are considered to reflect the high level of trust from the professional world in UI graduates, the success of alumni in building careers, and the strength of the university’s international academic network. With this foundation, UI is increasingly optimistic about continuing its transformation as a world-class research university that makes a real contribution to the advancement of science, innovation, and national progress.
