Depok (ANTARA) - Universitas Indonesia (UI) has expressed support for the national nutrition programme implemented by the government through the National Nutrition Agency (BGN) by preparing academic strength and studies on Satuan Pelayanan Pemenuhan Gizi (SPPG). UI Rector Heri Hermansyah in Depok on Thursday affirmed that UI welcomes this role with seriousness and remains sensitive to evolving societal dynamics. He stated that UI’s contribution is rooted in the Tridharma of Higher Education. As a research university, UI’s primary role is to strengthen the MBG programme through education of nutrition and health experts, innovative food and nutrition research, policy studies, evidence-based socialisation, as well as monitoring and evaluation based on scientific methods, he said. He mentioned that UI currently has several relevant study programmes aligned with the national nutrition agenda, including the Nutrition and Public Health programme at the Faculty of Public Health, Bioprocess Technology, as well as Medical Education and Nursing Science. Various research in these fields has contributed to the formulation of public health policies in Indonesia. Its implementation must be accountable, professional, and aligned with the university’s primary function as a centre for education and research, said UI Rector Heri Hermansyah. Through a science-based approach and good governance, his side is optimistic about delivering significant impact for the success of the national nutrition programme to support efforts in improving the quality of the nation’s children.
