UI organizes book festival

JAKARTA: Students of the University of Indonesia's Library Science Association are organizing a four-day book festival at the School of Humanities in Depok.

The Bicara Cinta (Talking About Love) book festival, so themed to interest students and teenagers in recent literary work by young authors, such as Djenar Maesa Ayu and Helvy Tiana Rosa, will feature prominent authors who will talk about their work.

The late Soe Hok Gie earned praise from close associates during a discussion on Wednesday that was attended by Riri Riza, of Gie, a film due for release in June.

Dozens of prominent authors will also attend various discussions in the festival, which will end on Saturday.

Aside from a book bazaar, participated in by hundreds of local publishers, the organizer is also arranging discussions, theater shows and workshops on story telling and comics. --JP
