Universitas Indonesia (UI) has affirmed that all student activities of a non-profit nature are not subject to rental fees or are provided free of charge to support activities oriented towards academic and student development.

“The provision is explicitly regulated in Appendix II letter B number 2 of the Rector’s Decree Number 105/SK/R/UI/2026,” said Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs Erwin Agustian Panigoro in his statement in Depok, West Java, on Sunday.

He stated that the policy is also in line with the provisions of Article 51 paragraph (1) letter b of Government Regulation Number 75 of 2021 concerning the Statute of Universitas Indonesia, which guarantees students’ rights to utilise educational facilities and infrastructure in organising curricular, co-curricular, and extracurricular activities.

Thus, he continued, various student activities such as arts performances, sports events, discussions, or other interest and talent development activities that are non-commercial in nature can utilise campus facilities without incurring rental costs.

The policy is directed towards strengthening the institution’s financial independence through opening sources of income outside the state budget, while still positioning campus facilities as strategic assets whose primary function is to support academic activities.

The utilisation of facilities is carried out productively and with economic value without sidelining the university’s primary role as an educational space.

Activities containing elements of SARA (ethnicity, religion, race, and inter-group relations), practical politics, violence, pornography, or those potentially damaging the institution’s reputation are not permitted. All users are required to comply with the provisions and pay fees according to the established standards if the activities are commercial in nature.

Overall, this policy serves as a guideline in realising more orderly, transparent, and accountable management of campus facilities, he said, while reaffirming UI’s commitment to students through the waiver of fees for non-profit activities, without neglecting efforts to increase institutional income and the university’s primary function as a higher education provider.
