Universitas Indonesia (UI) is continuing to process the alleged sexual harassment case involving 16 students in a chat group at the Faculty of Law, Universitas Indonesia (FH UI). UI has formed an Expert Team for the Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force (Satgas PPK) to strengthen the handling of the case.

“At present, the handling process has reached the examination stage. UI ensures that every stage is carried out meticulously and based on principles of independence and accountability,” said UI’s Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs, Erwin Agustian Panigoro, as reported by Antara on Tuesday (21/4/2026).

He stated that this appointment was made based on Rector’s Decree No. 360/SK/R/UI/2026 as an effort to ensure the investigation process runs comprehensively, objectively, and fairly regarding the complaint numbered Aduan 73-FH-VI-2026.

Erwin said the formation of the Expert Team is a strategic step to support the deepening of the report by Satgas PPK. The formation of this team is also to ensure the examination process runs objectively.

“The expertise of the team is divided functionally, covering victim assessment and support, fact-gathering and evidence, legal analysis, as well as social and policy approaches to guarantee a thorough, independent, and accountable investigation,” he said.

Furthermore, he explained that the case handling process is carried out in five stages: receiving the report, examining the victim, gathering and deepening evidence, as well as examining the respondent, victim, and witnesses, accompanied by additional assessments, such as psychological evaluation to strengthen the evidence.

All findings are then discussed in an internal meeting of the examination team to formulate recommendations, which in the final stage are submitted to university leadership as the basis for decision-making.

UI emphasises that all handling stages are carried out in accordance with applicable provisions, referring to Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation No. 55 of 2024 and UI Rector’s Regulation No. 37 of 2025 on the Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Universitas Indonesia Environment.

During the handling process, the public is urged not to disseminate unverified information and to avoid speculation that could potentially disrupt the handling process.

Commitment to principles of objectivity, confidentiality, and accountability continues to be upheld in every stage.

Case developments will be conveyed periodically through the university’s official channels in a meticulous and accurate manner.
