UI Forges Partnership with Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce
Depok (ANTARA) - The Rector of Universitas Indonesia (UI), Prof Heri Hermansyah, led an academic delegation on a strategic visit to the Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce in China as an effort to forge global collaboration between the academic world and industry. “UI hopes that this cooperation can contribute to creating applicable innovations, building globally competitive talent, and strengthening economic and educational relations between Indonesia and China,” said Heri in his statement on Saturday. Through this meeting, both parties committed to promoting collaboration oriented towards innovation downstreaming and enhancing international competitiveness. According to Heri, the programmes run by the Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce demonstrate its openness to collaborating with UI. Meanwhile, President of the Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce Liu Haijing stated that this visit serves as an important momentum to strengthen synergy between the academic world and industry. This is because the Shenzhen Chaoshan Chamber of Commerce is committed to developing an integrated and digitalised platform through the strategic “3+2+1” plan, which focuses on internationalisation, digital transformation, and strengthening the capacity of business actors to compete globally. “We see great potential from collaboration with Universitas Indonesia, particularly in connecting academic strengths with industry needs. We hope this cooperation can open up more opportunities for knowledge exchange, talent development, and joint innovation,” he explained. He elaborated on the development of his business in the field of chip research and industry, which has been operating for three years in Jakarta and Tangerang. Through this cooperation, he hopes to strengthen collaboration opportunities in technology and human resource development by opening up broader cooperation spaces, including internship programmes, workforce absorption, and joint technology development. In this meeting, both parties agreed that collaboration between UI and industry partners has great potential to be developed sustainably. In the future, this cooperation will be realised in concrete programmes that support industry-academia-research integration, strengthening digital talent, and making real contributions to knowledge-based economic development at the global level.
