UI Expands Education Internationalisation through MOU with HKMU
Universitas Indonesia (UI) is strengthening its commitment to expanding the internationalisation of education through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU). UI becomes the first Indonesian university to establish an official collaboration with HKMU. The signing of the MOU was led by UI Rector Heri Hermansyah and HKMU President Paul Lam. “We view the collaboration with HKMU as an opportunity to create a mutually reinforcing academic ecosystem that is relevant to global challenges,” said Rector Heri Hermansyah in a statement in Depok, West Java, on Wednesday. The event took place on Monday (23/3) at MU Tower, Jockey Club Institute of Healthcare, and HKMU’s Main Campus. He explained that this collaboration is part of UI’s strategic efforts to broaden its global network while enhancing the quality of education and research with impactful outcomes. A total of 20 HKMU students will participate in a short course programme at UI from June to July 2026. Moving forward, both institutions have agreed to develop student exchange programmes and double degree programmes at the Master’s level, particularly in the field of Public Administration. Research collaboration will be focused through UI’s Faculty of Public Administration. Paul Lam welcomed Universitas Indonesia as the first campus partner in Indonesia. “We believe this collaboration will open up significant opportunities for knowledge exchange, academic mobility, and the development of innovative joint programmes,” he said. Through this collaboration, UI reaffirms its commitment to continuously improving the quality of higher education, expanding its global network, and promoting innovation and tangible contributions to the advancement of knowledge at the international level.
