Universitas Indonesia (UI) is strengthening the handling process of an alleged Electronic-Based Sexual Violence (KSBE) case within the Faculty of Law environment through the establishment of an Expert Team for the Task Force on Prevention and Handling of Violence (Satgas PPK). UI’s Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs, Erwin Agustian Panigoro, at the UI Depok campus on Tuesday, stated that involving expert personnel is part of the university’s commitment to maintaining the quality and integrity of the examination process. He said this appointment is based on Rector’s Decree Number 360/SK/R/UI/2026 as an effort to ensure the investigation process runs comprehensively, objectively, and fairly regarding the report with Complaint Number 73-FH-VI-2026. Erwin stated that the formation of the Expert Team is a strategic step to support the deepening of the report by Satgas PPK and to ensure the examination process runs objectively. “The team’s expertise is divided functionally, including victim assessment and support, fact-gathering and proof, legal analysis, as well as social and policy approaches to guarantee a thorough, independent, and accountable investigation,” he said. Furthermore, he explained that the case handling process is carried out in five stages: receiving the report, examining the victim, gathering and deepening evidence, as well as examining the respondent, victim, and witnesses, accompanied by additional assessments such as psychological evaluation to strengthen the proof. All findings are then discussed in the internal examiner team meeting to formulate recommendations, which in the final stage are submitted to university leadership as the basis for decision-making. UI affirms that all handling stages are carried out in accordance with applicable provisions, referring to Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 55 of 2024 and UI Rector’s Regulation Number 37 of 2025 on Prevention and Handling of Violence in the Universitas Indonesia Environment. During the handling process, the public is urged not to disseminate unverified information and to avoid speculation that could potentially disrupt the handling process. Commitment to the principles of objectivity, confidentiality, and accountability continues to be upheld in every stage. Case developments will be conveyed periodically through the university’s official channels carefully and accurately.
