UI Builds Top Talent to Meet Global Workforce Demands
Depok (ANTARA) - The University of Indonesia (UI) is building superior young talent to prepare Indonesia for a world-class standing in meeting global workforce demands. UI Vice-Rector for Planning, Finance, and Human Resources, Ahmad Gamal, stated in Depok on Friday that the university’s strategic position is determined by the quality of the talent it produces. Tracer study data shows that UI graduates are quickly absorbed into the job market, including by multinational companies, yet there remains room to strengthen non-technical competencies such as adaptability, integrity, and cross-cultural skills. “The quality of a university is determined by what its graduates do in the world. UI’s strategic position depends on how the talent we produce can adapt, maintain integrity, and be ready to compete across cultures,” he said. To this end, UI held the ‘4th UI Employer Forum’. The strategic forum, themed ‘Beyond Borders: The Next-Gen Talent Ecosystem for a World-Class Indonesia’, brought together university leaders, industry partners, and the academic community to discuss the readiness of UI talent in answering global workforce needs. The forum serves as a strategic platform for educators and industry to design a superior generation ecosystem that supports UI’s reputation as a world-class university. Through the 2026 UI Employer Forum, the university is strengthening its position as a world-class institution that not only produces globally competitive graduates but also designs a superior talent ecosystem capable of making contributions. Employer reputation and alumni outcomes are now global benchmarks, and both can only be achieved through the real achievements of graduates. Meanwhile, the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia, Fauzan, highlighted that Indonesian talent working in strategic international sectors needs to be optimised as an instrument of Indonesia’s geopolitical strength. “The current international political turmoil further encourages us to strengthen human resource development for our national interests,” he said. The hope is that more Indonesian talent will work in strategic sectors such as technology, public policy, science, and healthcare. The existence of Indonesian talent on the international stage will become a strategic asset that strengthens the country’s geopolitical bargaining power. “Hopefully UI will always lead in being a vessel for the birth of brilliant national talent,” said Fauzan. He also advised the academic community present that UI should continue to make significant innovative leaps that contribute to the nation, while continuously preparing the emergence of superior, professional individuals ready to compete on the global stage.
