UI and SUFE explore strategic partnership in economics and business

Although our campuses are separated by mountains and oceans, we share the same core objective of improving our communities’ quality of life. Depok (ANTARA) – The University of Indonesia (UI) and Shanghai University of Finance and Economics (SUFE) are exploring a strategic partnership in economics and business to enhance academic capacity, scholarly quality, and international reputation. UI’s Academic Vice-Rector, Mahmud Sudibandriyo, said on Tuesday in Depok that UI, as Indonesia’s most comprehensive university, remains open to international partnerships. ‘We are open to expanding and strengthening collaborations with various Chinese universities, including SUFE, which excels in economics and business scholarship,’ he said. SUFE’s Vice President and Dean of the College of Business, Jin Yuying, emphasised the importance of the SUFE-UI partnership, which in a broader context strengthens Indonesia-China relations. Both parties discussed potential collaboration areas, particularly in economics and business scholarship, management, and public administration and policy – SUFE’s key strengths. SUFE also aims to expand its partnership network to develop cross-cultural, language, and intercultural studies through its School of Foreign Studies. Dean of UI’s Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB), Yulianti, stated that the collaboration with SUFE aims to strengthen academic capacity and boost FEB UI’s international ranking through research collaboration, faculty exchanges, and student exchange programmes. SUFE is also expected to collaborate with LPEM FEB UI, a research institution focused on public policy and national development, and UI’s largest academic research community. ‘One of our hopes from the SUFE partnership is collaboration in research, faculty exchanges, and student exchanges. We hope this collaboration will enhance FEB’s global capacity and network, while accelerating international ranking achievements,’ Yulianti concluded.
