UI and Muhammadiyah Agree to Collaborate to Enhance Education Quality
Depok (ANTARA) - Universitas Indonesia (UI) and the Central Leadership (PP) of Muhammadiyah have agreed to collaborate by signing a Joint Memorandum of Understanding to improve education quality. “We want this MoU to enhance education quality evenly across all levels. So, we cannot advance alone; we must progress together,” said UI Rector Heri Hermansyah at the UI Convention Hall in Depok, West Java, on Monday. The signing was conducted directly by the General Chairman of PP Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, and UI Rector Heri Hermansyah. This Memorandum of Understanding covers cooperation between Muhammadiyah and UI in the field of education. The Rector hopes that this collaboration will create a positive multiplier effect for both parties in education. Heri Hermansyah stated that this cooperation is not merely about strengthening inter-institutional relations but uniting two key national forces: the academic world and civil society organisations. The Memorandum of Understanding includes, among other things, continuing education programmes for learners to advance to higher levels in a structured manner, as well as fast-track programmes for outstanding students to complete their studies more efficiently. In addition, this memorandum will feature training and education programmes to produce exceptional individuals who not only compete academically but are also of high integrity, adaptable, and capable of addressing global challenges. Meanwhile, the General Chairman of the Central Leadership of Muhammadiyah, Haedar Nashir, said that in 2045 Indonesia will be a century old, with projections to strengthen highly competitive and independent human resources. “This cannot be realised without improving the fields of education and health, including building character,” he stated. Haedar Nashir views this collaboration as highly strategic for building strong character and mastering knowledge that can compete at a global level.
