UI Acknowledges Error in Talent Scouting Results, Insists Selection Remains Transparent
Depok, Kompas.com - Universitas Indonesia (UI) has ensured that the selection process for the Talent Scouting Programme for the International Undergraduate Class (S1 KKI) proceeded fairly and transparently, despite disruptions during the announcement of results.
This statement came after widespread complaints on social media regarding changes in pass status for participants on the enrollment.ui.ac.id website.
“What we want to emphasise is that the current selection results displayed on the website are valid, and the entire selection process was conducted fairly and transparently,” said UI’s Director of Public Relations, Media, Government, and International Affairs, Erwin Panigoro, when confirmed by Kompas.com on Wednesday evening (18/3/2026).
Preliminary data appeared on the website for about 40 minutes when participants began accessing it according to the announcement schedule at 18:00 WIB.
“Although the system page was already accessible, the behind-the-scenes process to ensure the displayed data was the final selection results had not yet been fully completed,” Erwin explained.
UI acknowledged the incident as their responsibility and extended apologies to participants who felt disappointed and confused.
Currently, UI has formed a joint team from the Admissions Unit, Digital Technology Directorate, and Public Relations to compile a comprehensive technical explanation.
Previously, several participants reported that their pass status changed within a short time.
One of them, a student with initials JIS, was initially declared passed for the Accounting Study Programme at UI’s Faculty of Economics and Business on Tuesday (17/3/2026) around 19:02 WIB.
“We immediately informed the extended family, prayed together, and celebrated. From my child’s school, there were 7 who applied. At 19:00 WIB, four were declared passed,” said JIS’s father, Budi.
However, when checking the website again around 21:30 WIB, the status had changed to failed.
A few hours later, the results changed again.
“There were several errors, but the worst was between 21:00-22:00 WIB before I could access the website again; it was erroring and the site couldn’t be opened,” he clarified.
He expressed disappointment because the joy lasted only briefly.
“It was also embarrassing for me because many people had already congratulated me. I still hope for a correction,” said Zhalika.
