UGM to hold seminar on economy
YOGYAKARTA: In an effort to help the public gain a better
understanding of regional autonomy, Gadjah Mada University's
Magister Ekonomika Pembangunan (MEP UGM) will hold a one-day
seminar on the issue here this Saturday.
Entitled: The Challenge in the Implementation of Law No.
25/2004, No. 32/2004 and No. 33/2004 in Developing Regional
Economies, the seminar plans to present Minister of Finance Jusuf
Anwar and Minister of Home Affairs M. Ma'ruf as keynote speakers.
Several governors, regents and mayors are also scheduled to
speak at the seminar including Gorontalo Governor Fadel Muhammad,
Alor Regent Ansgerius Takalapeta and Yogyakarta Mayor Herry
Zudianto.
According to Lincoln Arsyad of the organizing committee, there
will be three main topics discussed during the seminar. They are
the analysis of Law No. 25/2004, No. 32/2004 and No. 33/2004 in
regional economic development; regional financing strategy; and
regional investment, infrastructure, and asset management
strategy.
"We expect a mixed audience of MEP alumni, regional and
central government officials, associations, academics and the
general public," Lincoln said earlier this week. -- JP
